    Electricity

Both Opasatika and Val Rita-Harty are served by Hydro One. The nearest major transformer station is the Kapuskasing TS. The transmission and distribution networks extend throughout the area, principally following the Highway 11 Corridor.

There is sufficient transmission capacity at the Kapuskasing TS to accommodate the planned additions of electricity generation provided by several important projects – including the Hydromega run-of-river hydro-electric generation plants currently under construction, as well as potential additions of utility-grade solar electric generation plants. In the broader region, the electricity demand is being enhanced by the Lower Mattagami River hydro projects.
